History, Please Repeat Yourself 6

The shitty weather in D.C. in the run-up to tomorrow’s inaugural festivities makes me long for the days of William Henry Harrison:

Harrison, the oldest man at age sixty-eight (before Ronald Reagan) to be inaugurated President, died after serving only one month in office. He had become ill after delivering his inaugural address outdoors in the cold March weather without a hat or a coat and died of a respiratory infection, probably pneumonia.

Please, please let Bush be this stupid. Please?

Yeah, because the Cheney presidency would be so … right.

hey weigel– ain’t you the ultra-conservative one of the bunch? or are you sane enough to consider cheney satan as well?

I think it’s been widely accepted that Dick Cheney is Satan, or at least a very poorly disguised lizard.

And in Dave’s defense, it doesn’t take much among my friends to be designated the ultra-conservative one since we’re all a bunch of bleeding heart liberals. Even Dave voted for Kerry.

I’m still conservative, but Bush and the Republicans are hurtling into a very crazy place and leaving folks like me behind.

The tipping point was Abu Ghraib … it’s been downhill (uphill?) for me since then.

America! It’s the dream that we all share. It’s the hope for tomorrow.
