Things I did not want to see at the end of a brilliant preview of next week’s episode of Deadwood, after this week’s brilliant episode:
“Only 3 Episodes Left!”
Mother. FUCKERS. I still cannot believe they cancelled my favorite motherfucking show on television.
I at least feel better that it was David Milch’s decision rather than HBO (unlike Carnivale’s ridiculous cliffhanger).
Frankly, I don’t think this was the result that anyone wanted. Milch wanted to do another full season, HBO wanted him to do another half-season. When Milch played hardball and said he’d either do a full season or nothing, HBO called his bluff and said, “Okay, nothing.” The two wrap-up movies are more a sop to the fans/subscribers than to Milch.
The way the whole thing went down is just a goddamn shame.
