I could have driven from Sun Valley to Los Angeles in the time it took me to get home today.
Here’s what was supposed to happen: Drive to Boise, fly to Seattle, 2 hour layover, fly to L.A. Boom, done.
Here’s what did happen: Drove to Boise. Found out my flight to Seattle was going to be about 2 hours late. Found out my flight to LA was the last one of the day from Seattle, and the next wouldn’t leave til 6am.
Found out the flight to Seattle would be delayed an additional 1.5 hours. Resigned myself to spending the night in the Seattle airport.
Found out that I could get booked on a direct flight from Boise to L.A., which meant staying in Boise until 7pm, but getting in only about 2 hours after I was supposed to.
Booked said flight. Was assured my bag would make it. Went to the bar and drank and read magazines for a couple hours. Had dinner. Spent a total of 8 hours in the Boise airport.
Got on flight to Los Angeles. Got bounced around because it was a 70-seater jet (have I mentioned I hate 70-seater jets?). Finally got to L.A., sat on tarmac for 20 minutes waiting for another plane to clear the gate.
Went to the baggage claim. Waited. Waited. Waited some more. Realized luggage was not coming. Filed paperwork to have luggage delivered whenever it returns from wherever it went.
Got in taxi line (which was now 20 mins. long). Got taxi. Got stuck in LAX traffic for half an hour.
Got home. Found cat had shit all over my apartment, and that my computer was acting up (again).
Considered that an appropriate end to the day.
Edited to Add: I got my luggage back this morning at 11am, way sooner than I thought I would. Hooray!
