So I have to take a little test next weekend, and I bought a GRE prep book to prepare, since that’s roughly the closest thing to the test I’m taking.
I glanced through the verbal/analytical part of it, thinking, OK, I need to review some vocab and some test-taking tactics, but otherwise, no problem.
Then I got to the math portion, and quickly had a realization: I am TOTALLY fucked.
I did well in math in high school, at least until after I finished Algebra 2/Trigonometry in one year. That was my Math Ceiling, and I’ve never been able to have a good grasp of anything past that.
The problem is, after 6 1/2 years of using math for pretty much nothing other than balancing my checkbook, I have forgotten almost every bit of algebra, geometry, and trig I ever knew.
Simple rules, like what the area of a circle is, are complete mysteries to me. Simple word questions leave me stammering and rubbing the bridge of my nose to alleviate my building headaches.
The one comfort I have is that from what I’ve been told about the test I’m taking, there’s not that much math.
But a) this is from people who took the test several years ago and b) I’m beginning to feel like any math more complicated than 2+2=4 is going to be more complicated than I’d like it to be.
in the immortal words of barbie: “math is hard.” but you’ll be fine — i managed to survive both ap calculus and the gmat w/o ever taking trig.
True, but I’m betting you cracked the test study book more than a week in advance.

It’s the ADTP test. Follow the link where it says “test,” although I think you know what it is. 🙂
that one is even stumping me, but I’m pretty sure it’s not divisible by two.
