Shut Up, Universe

Normally, I’m not really that bitter about being single. But Valentine’s Day, and the rush of marketing that accompanies it, is another story.

So far in just the last three days, I’ve gotten emails from no fewer than five companies telling me to “Make Valentine’s Day special for your loved one by buying them (product)!”

As much as my nonexistent loved one would find a flat-screen TV romantic, I think I’ll pass.

At least so far I haven’t gotten any “friendly reminders” from online dating services that Valentine’s day is fast approaching, but I fear that reprieve won’t last long…
