My friend Brian found the trailer for the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory linked off Ain’t It Cool News the other day, and I haven’t been able to stop watching it since.
You might want to do a couple shots before you watch it, maybe then it’ll make more sense.
I’m scared. My expectations are so high I wonder if the movie can live up to them. But either way I suppose it looks freakyfun.
Wow. Just… wow.
I absolutely love the movie, but I’m still more loyal to the book, which I read a thousand times as a kid, so I’m downright giddy that they’re calling the remake “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and not “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” And the book was way trippier than the movie, so Tim Burton’s definitely the right guy. Should be, uh, interesting!
As a total skeptic of the very idea of this remake, I have to say I thought the preview looked totally awesome.
Let’s just hope they keep in the very best line of the original, which was “Snozzberries? Who’s ever heard of a snozzberry?!”
I didn’t see any Oompa-Loompas in the preview. They better be in there. And they better not be CGI or anything. And they better sing the songs from the book – the ones that are like 12 pages long!
