Proof That Guitar Hero and Playing The Guitar Do Not Require The Same Skill Set 3

I have been playing the guitar for almost 17 years. I’m not a shredder, but I’m a pretty decent player.

I just got booed offstage on the easy level of Guitar Hero.

This is going to be the biggest time sink I have ever invested in.

Nick had problems with it, too. He thinks it’s because as a musician, you hear what should be played, not the random things they have you play. Keep at it, though, let me know if it’s true that the final task is to win your Soul back from the Devil. 🙂

I’ll back that up — you’ll definitely want to start on at least medium; easy tends to be counterintuitive, at least in my experience. It’s also worth calibrating the controller if you haven’t yet — on my TV, its automatic calibration put it about 50 miliseconds away from when we manually calibrated, but it made all the difference in the world.

Not to say that it won’t still eat your life away. God knows that’s what Rock Band is doing to me (and I haven’t even started downloading songpacks yet)…

Good call on the calibration. I feel like I’m playing in time, but it keeps thinking I’m playing either too early or too late. I’ll have to give that a shot when I get home.
