I really need to stop watching the news in the morning when I’m trying to wake up. I’ve seen two things this morning, one that really pissed me off and one that would piss me off if it weren’t so damn silly.
The latter was Governator Schwarzenegger promoting a bond issue by folding a giant fake credit card in half to symbolize not spending on credit anymore.
It’s oversimplifying the problem to a ridiculous extent, but the visual was so goddamn funny that I can’t really be that mad. God bless the California Department of Oversize Props.
The one that actually pissed me off was the Headline News people reading some of the “What do you think about this?” emails they got about this story.
The story pisses me off in and of itself, but not nearly as much as a couple of the blatantly homophobic responses they read on the air. One person emailed, and this is a direct quote, “Gays should stay behind closed doors.”
I’m not so much mad that they read these responses on the air, since they are these people’s opinions, but I’m mad that there are still people out there who are so unable to even concieve of tolerating gays that they insist that gays go back in the closet.
I’m even more angry that this was one of the first things I heard this morning, and I’m not going to be able to stop being mad about it all day. Gah.
Note that the principal’s name is Bonvillain. Bon-VILLAIN!!!
Marcus absolutely should have been punished. He completely deserved it. He should have been suspended, and then maybe beaten. I mean, really: “cep my mouf shut”?
Anyone who does that to the English language should be punished to the fullest extent of the law!
What’s that? He’s only 7? Oh. Nevermind. 🙂
